Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Specific Apps ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the TapCella mobile application (the "App") available on the Google Play Store.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
TapCella is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that collect your personal data. Specifically:
- Spreadsheet data — All spreadsheets, cells, and content you create are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
- Location data — If you use the GPS Stamp feature, the App requests your device's location to fill spreadsheet cells with latitude, longitude, and address information. This data is written directly into your spreadsheet and is not sent to us or any third party. Location permission is only used when you explicitly invoke this feature.
- Camera and gallery — If you use the OCR (Scan Image to Table) feature, the App accesses your camera or photo gallery to capture an image for text recognition. Image processing is performed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit. Images are not uploaded or stored beyond the active scan session.
- Imported files — When you import a CSV, XLS, or XLSX file, the file is read locally on your device and its contents are stored in the on-device database. The file is not uploaded anywhere.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- The contents of your spreadsheets or files
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to our servers
- Advertising identifiers or behavioral tracking data
- Any data from children under the age of 13
3. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services under certain conditions:
- Google ML Kit (Text Recognition) — Used on-device for the OCR scan feature. No image data is sent to Google's servers via this integration. ML Kit's on-device APIs process data locally. See Google ML Kit Terms.
- Google Drive — If you choose to export or share a file to Google Drive via the system share sheet, your file is transferred to your own Google Drive account. This action is initiated by you and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your Google account or Drive contents. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Services — The App is distributed via the Google Play Store and may be subject to Google's standard platform data practices.
We do not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or any other third-party tracking libraries in the App.
4. Permissions
The App may request the following Android permissions:
- CAMERA — Required for the OCR scan feature when you choose to take a new photo. Not used for any other purpose.
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Required for the OCR scan feature when you choose to pick an image from your gallery, and for importing spreadsheet files.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — Required for the GPS Stamp feature. Only accessed when you explicitly tap the GPS button. Not used in the background.
- INTERNET — Used to resolve a street address from GPS coordinates via Android's Geocoder API. Also used by the backup feature if enabled. No other data is transmitted.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Used to check whether the device is on an unmetered network before triggering an optional Google Drive backup.
All permissions are optional in the sense that the core spreadsheet features work without them. Permissions are requested only when you use the specific feature that requires them.
5. Data Storage and Security
All App data is stored in a local Room (SQLite) database on your device. It is protected by your device's standard operating system security model. We do not have access to this data. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is deleted by Android.
We recommend keeping your device protected with a PIN, password, or biometric lock to safeguard your data.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
